Roppongi Keyakizaka Street will be closed off and turned into a stage! "Roppongi Hills Bon Odori 2015" will be held again this year

Jul 28, 2015

Roppongi Hills' annual summer event, "Roppongi Hills Bon Odori 2015," will be held from August 21st to 23rd. This year marks the 13th anniversary of the event, and to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the original Roppongi Hills musical and dance drama, "Rakugeki Roppongi Raku," this will be held as one of the main programs. "Rakugeki Roppongi Raku" is an arrangement of "Daidengaku," a musical and dance drama that modernizes Japan's ancient festival, by multi-talented artist and Kyogen performer Nomura Mannojo. Roppongi Keyakizaka Street will be closed off as a stage for a special performance lasting approximately one hour. Approximately 150 people, including "Wazaogi," a professional "Daidengaku" group from all over Japan, and local residents, are expected to participate in the performance. In addition, Roppongi Hills singer Roppongi Jiro will perform the original Bon Odori song "Nihonjin Ondo" as he circles the stage of Roppongi Hills Arena. New singers will also appear alongside Roppongi Jiro, livening up the venue. Other events include a performance of Tohoku folk performing arts, which expresses hopes for recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, and a workshop where you can experience creating rock art like cave murals using a mysterious wall that can be painted with water. Restaurants and shops within Roppongi Hills will be operating as food stalls and food trucks, offering original menus. A record 20 restaurants are expected to participate, including Jean-Georges Tokyo, which received one star in the 2015 Michelin Guide Tokyo, and restaurants at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo.
