IKEA Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of IKEA, a Swedish home furnishing company with a vision of "creating a better everyday life for the many people," will open its first restaurant in a Japanese city shop (urban store) on the 7th floor of IKEA Shibuya on April 21, 2021.

IKEA Shibuya, which opened last November, is the world's first seven-story store, with the entire seventh floor dedicated to restaurants. IKEA offers Swedish food at affordable prices to make the IKEA shopping experience more enjoyable and fulfilling for many people. With the opening of the first city shop restaurant at IKEA Shibuya, in addition to the Shibuya-exclusive salmon menu, customers in the city center will now be able to easily enjoy popular menu items previously only available at IKEA restaurants.

Features of the Swedish Restaurant
● Enjoy the wide range of IKEA restaurant menus at affordable prices, even in the heart of the city
At the IKEA Shibuya Swedish Restaurant, we not only serve the traditional Swedish dishes that are popular at IKEA restaurants, but also plant-based foods that are kind to both the body and the earth, such as plant balls and plant-based keema curry, which use plant-based ingredients instead of meat, as well as TUNNBRÖD, which was previously only available at IKEA Harajuku, and exclusive menu items that can only be eaten at this one IKEA restaurant worldwide, all at affordable prices.
(At the time of opening, there will be 12 types of main dishes, 2 types of curry, 4 types of zumbröd, 7 types of appetizers and salads,
2 types of soup, 3 types of cakes and sandwiches, 2 types of soft ice cream, as well as a wide variety of potatoes, rice, bakery items and more.)

● IKEA Shibuya exclusive menu using sustainable seafood
The Swedish restaurant is particularly focused on menus using salmon. IKEA cherishes the tradition of Scandinavian food, and salmon, which is an essential part of Swedish food culture, is not only delicious, but is also rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids, making it good for your health. IKEA's delicious and plump salmon is Atlantic salmon from Norway, and all of it is made from sustainable seafood that has been ASC-certified*. In addition to uniquely Swedish dishes, we have developed and prepared exclusive salmon menu items that can only be eaten at IKEA Shibuya, such as "Salmon Poke" and "Fillet Salmon Set Meal with Ginger Sauce," so that you can enjoy a variety of salmon flavors.
*ASC certification: An international certification system for aquaculture managed by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council, which not only prevents pollution of the natural environment and overuse of resources, but also seeks to build honest relationships with workers and local residents.

Helen von Reis, President and Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA Japan Co., Ltd., said,
"We are thrilled to be opening our Swedish restaurant on the 7th floor of IKEA Shibuya. The restaurant will offer menu items made with plant-based ingredients and a new ASC-certified salmon menu item to support sustainable seafood. We hope this restaurant will become a favorite dining spot in Shibuya for a wide range of people, including young people and families."

Tokiyuki Sagawa, Country Food Manager at IKEA Japan, said, "We look forward to welcoming you to our Swedish Restaurant. Just like in our traditional IKEA stores, we hope our customers will enjoy our classic 50 yen soft serve ice cream as well as delicious, sustainable Swedish cuisine before, during, and after their shopping. Please come to the 7th floor with your friends and family and enjoy not only shopping at IKEA Shibuya, but also a wonderful meal."

In addition, IKEA's salmon is a plump, boneless, and juicy fillet that is perfect for children.
