Hilton luxury brand makes first foray into Kyoto. ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts to open this fall in the birthplace of Rinpa art

Apr 16, 2021
Tokyu Land Corporation and Tokyu Resorts & Stays Co., Ltd. are pleased to announce that the opening date for ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts, a resort hotel currently under development in Kyoto City (located in Kita-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture), has been set for September 16, 2021. Reservations will begin on April 20, 2021. This property will be the Hilton Group's first hotel in Kyoto and the first foray into the Asia-Pacific region for Hilton's luxury brand, LXR Hotels & Resorts.

Ahead of the long autumn holiday season, ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts will open in the nature-rich Rakuhoku region, close to the city center, as an open facility offering a safe, secure, and comfortable stay in the "With COVID-19" era.

The Takagamine area where the hotel is located is the birthplace of the Rinpa school, where Hon'ami Koetsu established an art village over 400 years ago and which has produced many talented artists. Drawing on this history and background, as well as its abundant natural surroundings, the hotel offers a "Dive into Kyoto" concept, allowing guests to experience the hidden charms of Kyoto through a resort stay.

The interior design will be handled by BLINK Design Group, an Asia-based interior designer with an extensive track record in luxury hotels in some of the world's leading resort destinations. Based on the "Artist Residence" concept inspired by Hon'ami Koetsu's art village, each area features a different essence and artwork: guest rooms feature "karakami paper," the Arrival Room features "lacquer," the restaurant features "bamboo," and the spa features "ceramics."

All 114 guest rooms average over 50 square meters, and the large windows on the front offer magnificent views of the Takagamine Sanzan (three peaks): Takagamine, Washigamine, and Tengamine. Enjoy a relaxing, luxurious time in the open air, enjoying the natural breeze on your skin, in the outdoor thermal pool, or on the restaurant's terrace.
