Elizabeth Peyton's first solo exhibition at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art features a selection of approximately 40 works, showcasing her 25-year career

Dec 7, 2016

American artist Elizabeth Peyton will be holding "Elizabeth Peyton: Still Life" at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Shinagawa, Tokyo, from January 21 to May 7 next year. Elizabeth Peyton is a female artist primarily focused on paintings, drawings, and prints. She is particularly known for her portraits, depicting a wide variety of people, from close friends and lovers to beloved dogs, to artists, novelists, musicians, and actors. Peyton's paintings, with their limpid colors and delicate lines, transform their subjects into beings of extraordinary beauty. In recent years, she has also created many works inspired by cityscapes, still lifes, and opera. This exhibition, her first solo exhibition at a Japanese museum, will feature approximately 40 works selected by the artist herself over her 25-year career. This is a rare opportunity to view Peyton's artistic career, which has been rarely exhibited in Japan until now.
