The d47 MUSEUM, a museum themed around the 47 prefectures of Japan located on the 8th floor of Shibuya Hikarie, will hold its 17th special exhibition, "47 Accessories 2: Accessories from 47 Prefectures," from December 8th to February 12th, 2017. With growing attention being paid to local craftsmanship, products utilizing local resources and techniques are being produced across Japan. In 2012, d47 MUSEUM held a special exhibition showcasing 47 examples of traditional craftsmanship evolving into new, youthful forms through collaborations with accessory makers. This follow-up exhibition will feature 47 types of accessories created to suit modern lifestyles while utilizing traditional techniques and local resources rooted in various parts of Japan. The exhibition will feature accessories created through unconventional manufacturing methods, such as those made using offcuts from chests of drawers, a regional specialty, and those that utilize industrial manufacturing techniques.

In addition, exhibitors will be holding workshops and order taking events during the event, and there will also be a space for makers and users to interact. Furthermore, an official book for the exhibition will be released, which provides an overview of the evolution of local craftsmanship through accessories from each of the 47 prefectures. The book allows visitors to learn about the works and production stories of the 47 makers.
