BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE releases distorted assembled bags

Jun 3, 2014

BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE will release a new bag, "Distortion," from its "BAO BAO PARK" series, in which the brand develops products in collaboration with creators. This fourth collaboration is with N&R FOLDINGS, a design studio founded by Rodrigo Solorzano and Naoki Kawamoto. "Distortion" means "distortion." Customers assemble the bag themselves using a flat sheet made up of various triangles, which differ from the brand's traditional triangles. When the bag is folded into a three-dimensional shape, the 2D shape distorts and transforms into a 3D shape. It comes in three colors: yellow, white, and black, and each is limited edition. The price is 60,000 yen. Sales will begin at Shibuya Parco and Hankyu Umeda Main Store from June 12th, and will also be available at Fukuoka Iwataya on the 25th.

Previously, the project has collaborated with art director/graphic designer Hirabayashi Naomi, artist Sputniko!, and graphic designer Nagashima Rikako.
