On December 16th, adidas released the brand's first-ever 3D technology shoe, the "3D Runner" (¥33,300), in limited quantities only in three cities: London, New York, and Tokyo. Only 50 pairs will be sold in Tokyo.
The "3D Runner" is a special shoe that adidas presented to select top athletes, including British heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill, American swimmer Allison Schmidt, and Colombian BMXer Mariana Pajon, at the Rio Olympics in August this year. The shoe features a 3D web structure that optimizes performance by placing high-density zones in areas of strength and low-density zones in areas of weakness, as well as a 3D-printed heel counter built into the midsole. The shoe is available in black and features a stylish black premium knit upper.
Sales information will be posted regularly on adidas Japan's Instagram account, "@adidastokyo," leading up to the release date.
