CHANEL unveiled its 2016-17 Métiers d'Art collection, "Paris Cosmopolite," on December 6th. The presentation took place at the Ritz Paris, a luxury Parisian hotel closely associated with Gabrielle Chanel. Long a magnet for international patrons, and lauded by Karl Lagerfeld as "an extremely international venue," the hotel attracted a celebrity-filled crowd reminiscent of its "café society" past. Among the glamorous faces milling about in the lobby, bar, and salon were Lily-Rose Depp, Alice Dellal, Cara Delevingne, Pharrell Williams, and Bob Dylan's grandson, Levi Dylan. The collection featured elegant evening styles with a cinch waist, which Lagerfeld described as "the kind of dresses worn by women dining at the Ritz." The brand's iconic jacket is adorned with glass pearls and tweed rose-shaped braids, while the new iconic handbag, the Gabrielle, is available in metallic gold leather and red tweed. Another iconic handbag, the 2.55, features embroidery that evokes the fabric of the Ritz Paris chairs.
