Pierre Hermé Paris Aoyama reopened on December 17th. This major renovation, more than 12 years after the Aoyama store's opening, marks a major overhaul, with a new interior and concept. The interior design was handled by Masamichi Katayama, who continues to represent Wonderwall. The first-floor boutique has a revamped lineup, with viennoiserie and baked goods making their debut. The second floor is home to "Heaven," an haute patisserie experience space, offering seasonally-changing desserts that can only be experienced here.
Entering the store, visitors are immediately invigorated by the gently jutting counter and the view of the showcases filled with macarons, chocolates, cakes, and viennoiserie such as croissants and kouglofs. The wall shelves are lined with gift-worthy sweets and ice cream in presentation boxes, as well as the French wine "MAS AMIEL," selected by Hermé himself, creating a unique selection.
The newly renovated first-floor boutique now features a cafe space where customers can enjoy freshly baked sweets with coffee or tea. Customers can also relax listening to music selected by "NF," the band led by musician Ichiro Yamaguchi of Sakanaction, through headphones at the counter seats. Both the first and second floors feature a sound-based "spatial design" by "NF," offering a unique experience. A "CROSSOVER" corner, featuring recipe books and merchandise by Hermé, is located next to the staircase.
Climb the stairs to the second floor and enter "Heaven," a sweets paradise filled with Hermé's dreams. A cute neon fairy sign painted by artist Makiko Tanaka welcomes you. "Welcome to Heaven! I wanted to create a space that would welcome guests into my home, so I created this place together with interior designer Masamichi Katayama. This is a place where you can relax and enjoy sweets while interacting with others. Please watch the sweets being made right before your eyes, talk to the pastry chefs, and experience the immersive atmosphere of haute patisserie," says Pierre Hermé.
In the open, glass-walled space with a sense of openness, you can enjoy a menu of over 20 drinks, including coffee, chocolat chaud, and alcoholic beverages, as well as desserts à la rachette (plated desserts). At the time of opening, eight desserts will be available, including the "Dessert Sala" (2,160 yen) made with matcha, and the menu is scheduled to change every three months.
While maintaining its luxurious atmosphere, Pierre Hermé Paris Aoyama has been reborn as a place where you can experience the "delight of the senses" created by Pierre Hermé at a closer distance. Be sure to stop by when you're strolling around Omotesando.
