Creative lab PARTY is holding its first exhibition, "Not There," at the Ginza Graphic Gallery (ggg) until September 28th. Admission is free.
The exhibition, centered around the theme of "freedom from the constraints of time and place," highlights activities and new projects announced over the past two years since the group's formation. The interactive experience utilizes visual and auditory senses, including an installation using the Oculus Rift head-mounted display, which creates a "presence" sensation within a 3D visual space.
A talk show featuring PARTY members and guests will also be held during the exhibition. A livestream is also planned; details will be announced on ggg's official website. To commemorate the exhibition, "ggg Books 106 PARTY," featuring PARTY's work, is also available for purchase.
PARTY was formed in 2011 by four creators, led by creative director Naoki Ito, along with Shimizu Kanta, Nakamura Hiroki, and Kawamura Shinji. Currently with offices in Tokyo and New York, the group has worked on a variety of designs utilizing digital technology, including visuals, products, events, and spaces.
Major projects include the global campaign for MUJI's travel goods brand "MUJI to GO," the game "World Wide Maze" that uses the latest web technology to transform any website into a 3D maze, and the development of a "mobile" smartphone charging booth powered by a Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid.
