Undercover returns to the official Paris Fashion Week schedule. Strong messages in clothing [14SS Paris Women's]

Sep 26, 2013

UNDERCOVER presented their 2014 Spring/Summer collection at Paris Fashion Week. The venue was the Palais de Tokyo. While last season's show was held off-schedule for the first time in two years, this time it was presented on an official schedule. A provocative monologue signaled the start of the show. The color palette consisted of only three colors: white, black, and red. LED plates attached to oversized tops and clutch bags featured the IT term "GODIC," the brand's theme, as well as words such as "SNUG" (meaning "cozy"), "INSULT" (insult), and "SUNLIT" (to shine with the sun). "I put what I'm thinking about right now into my clothes and set off. I feel like there's too much information in modern society, and everyone is overwhelmed," said designer Takahashi. The designs mixed elements of street, tailoring, and rock, with biker jackets, tailored suits, marine-striped items embroidered with gold chain motifs, and Chanel-style jackets worn with thick leather belts. For the finale, models wearing T-shirts decorated with messages displayed in LED light appeared in a pitch-black venue as a farewell song played. After the show, Takahashi explained why he insisted on presenting in Paris, saying, "Presenting in Paris, where I've been presenting for 10 years, is like a life's work for me. It's the home of fashion, and people all over the world can see my work."
