Undercover returns to Paris Fashion Week with a show that draws cheers for its powerful collection

Mar 2, 2013

UNDERCOVER held its Fall/Winter 2013-14 collection show off-schedule during Paris Fashion Week. The brand had stopped showing in Paris after the Fall/Winter 2011-12 collection, and this was their first show in two years.

The show began with models wearing rabbit masks emerging from behind a door. The show showcased a dramatic display of medieval decadence, featuring reconstructed biker jackets, corsets, ruffles, lace, and motifs of bones and internal organs. Designer Jun Takahashi also added special pieces, which were vintage items that appeared last season, disassembled and reconstructed by himself. Known for its devoted international following, the show was attended by a team of editors, including US Vogue's Grace Coddington, US Elle fashion editor Kate Lanphear, fashion journalist Diane Pernet, and Japanese attendees Tadanobu Asano and Mademoiselle Yulia. After the show, Takahashi commented, "I did what I always do (without thinking about the fact that it was Paris). I'm not sure how the collection will turn out yet." An exhibition of the collection opened in Paris on the 1st. The show took place on the Sorbonne campus. The show started an hour late due to a delay in the Undercover show that was scheduled to take place before the show. Many people were forced to miss it, but the powerful collection drew cheers at the finale.
