Background to the launch of "TabiMUSE STAY"
The unprecedented events caused by COVID-19 have had a severe impact on the accommodation industry. Over the past year in particular, we feel that long-standing challenges in the industry, such as reliance on OTAs and collapsing prices, have been highlighted.
In this COVID-19 era, travelers are being urged to embrace the "new normal of travel," including how they spend their time at their destinations. We believe that the key to managing a lodging facility is to carefully communicate its value to customers and ensure they make a choice at a fair price.
Each of the many wonderful accommodations across Japan has its own brand concept, vision, and story. However, traditional booking sites make it difficult to convey all of these appeals, making it difficult for guests to choose a lodging facility at a fair price. This forces accommodation facilities to rely on OTAs.
Therefore, we propose a new travel booking experience: "live commerce," where products are sold in real time while livestreaming.
We will experience each accommodation as a representative of millennial travelers and deliver the charm and "vision" of each facility through livestreams from the site. We launched "TabiMUSE STAY" with the desire to "carefully convey value to customers and allow them to make choices at reasonable prices" using the new method of live commerce.
Overview of "TabiMUSE STAY"
Since our founding in 2014, we have been operating "TabiMUSE," a travel-focused community media platform, to propose various travel options to millennial women.
"TabiMUSE STAY" will be livestreamed using the official TabiMUSE Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/tabimuse/). All plans sold are "TabiMUSE STAY Special Plans," which fulfill the "extraordinary" and "extraordinary" feeling that millennials seek in their travels.
Viewers who enjoy the livestream can immediately make a reservation, creating a new opportunity for accommodations and consumers to meet.
Accommodation facilities across the country have already expressed interest in participating, and the first project for "TabiMUSE STAY" has been decided to be a collaboration with mesm Tokyo, Autograph Collection, a luxury hotel that opened in April 2020.
Other planned collaborations include Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo, a long-established hotel that continues to take on new challenges while preserving its traditions, and a luxury hotel in Kiyomizu, Kyoto, which will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2022.
"TabiMUSE STAY" will serve as a bridge between accommodation facilities and consumers, delivering an unprecedented travel booking experience that is suited to the COVID-19 era.
