Dior reopened its flagship store, Dior Omotesando, in Tokyo's Omotesando district on October 29th. While retaining the curtain-like glass wall façade, designed by the architectural duo SANAA, consisting of Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, the renovation focused primarily on the interior. While incorporating the concept of the Paris flagship store, the design has been adapted for a more modern look. A particularly distinctive feature is the parquet floor on the second floor, with metallic gray walls creating a loft-like space. Dior commissioned artwork from several contemporary artists. A bench by Terence Main is located in the center of the floor, while a metallic bench by Johnny Swing is installed in the ready-to-wear section. The fragrance room on the second floor features a striking mirror designed by Tim Hailand. A video art wall incorporating floral art designed by Yorame has also been installed on the ground floor wall.
All Dior categories are available, with handbags and jewelry on the first floor and women's wear and fragrances on the second floor. The store also houses a Dior Homme boutique, which was renovated last October. To commemorate the renovation, the store is also selling exclusive clothing, bags and sneakers.
In addition, a large-scale exhibition, "Esprit Dior - The World of Dior," will open in Ginza on October 30th.
