The Isetan Shinjuku store, which opened on Wednesday, March 6th, hosted an opening reception on Friday, March 8th in the "URBAN CLOSET" area on the second floor. Targeting mothers, URBAN CLOSET is an area of the department store that offers a wide selection of clothing, including juice stands, flower arrangements, and room fragrances. The selection of products is based on the concept of proposing lifestyle ideas for modern women, who occupy various roles as women, wives, and mothers. To celebrate its hospitality, URBAN CLOSET hosted a talk show, juice tastings, and a flower arrangement installation. The talk show featured appearances by Makiko Takigawa and Rikuka Suzuki, exclusive models for the magazine "VERY," whose target audience overlaps with URBAN CLOSET's readers. They commented on how they themselves use URBAN CLOSET as mothers. Photographer Jun Imashiro, who photographs the permanent art space at Urban Closet's West Park, also appeared and spoke about his photography.
Other events were also held at West Park shops. At Sky High, a juice bar in Tokyo's Aoyama district that's garnering attention for its "juice cleanse," which proposes internal improvement through juices made from organic vegetables and fruits, owner Mami Keenan made an appearance at the counter. Juice tastings were also available. At Matilda, a flower shop in Tokyo's Nakameguro district that aims to "present fresh flowers as a fashion item," owner Hiroyuki Kado performed a live flower arrangement installation.
Frank & Eileen's linen shirt, a highlight of Urban Closet and exclusive to Isetan, sold 300 shirts in the first two days of its opening. With the warmer weather, clothing in general is off to a strong start.
