To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Horsebit Loafer, Gucci Ginza is hosting a "Shoes Artisan Corner"

Mar 10, 2013

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Horsebit Loafer, which debuted in 1953 and has become an iconic Gucci item, the Gucci Ginza (4-4-10 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) is hosting a "Shoe Artisan Corner" until the 10th.

Four shoemakers from Florence will be demonstrating the manufacturing process for the anniversary model, dubbed the "1953 Collection," as well as the coloring process that creates the "chiaroscuro" effect used in the made-to-order "Anton" line. The event will be held on Sunday the 10th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM, and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

In addition, there will be a program where you can order your own Horsebit Loafer using the "1953 Collection" last, choosing from six colors, ten materials, and three hardware options: shiny gold, matte gold, or shiny silver. Starting this time, women's shoes can also be ordered, and professional shoe shiner services will also be provided.

Gucci has been holding "Artisan Corner" events around the world since 2010 to showcase the finest artisan craftsmanship in Florence's leather goods factories. "Shoe Artisan Corner" was launched in 2012.
