From March 13th to 19th, "sacai "THE" showcase," a pop-up event showcasing sacai's women's line, is being held at The Stage on the first floor of Isetan Shinjuku.
The venue's interior is unified with a "door" motif, based on designer Abe Chitose's concept of "opening the drawers of your mind." Photographs of various doors are plastered on the walls, patterns pop out from open doors, and design sheets decorate the door frames around the wall racks where clothes are hung. Tape is used to create a door design on the full-length mirror.
In addition, an installation by collage artist Kaneuji Teppei is set up at the front of the venue. His work uses colorful tape, toys, and other materials, as well as sacai clothing. "Kane-san is an artist who creates collages of existing objects. He creates his works using an elaborate technique of copying and cutting out painted images and then combining them with other elements. This technique is similar to Sacai's clothing, which combines different materials such as lace and knitwear, so we asked him to create this installation," explained a Sacai spokesperson. The event will feature limited-edition items incorporating Kane-san's techniques, including a brooch (8,400 yen) and a necklace (15,750 yen) made of printed fabric with jewels. Also available are five exclusive items: a cardigan (29,400 yen), a striped dress/top (24,150 yen, 19,950 yen each), and a denim dress/top (28,350 yen, 26,250 yen each). "At Isetan, items that are easy to incorporate into everyday life, such as cardigans, are popular. Since there are many people in department stores, we think this will be an opportunity for people who don't usually see Sacai to get to know us," said the spokesperson.
