[2013-2014 AW Tokyo Collection] "Free Madonna" is a pop celebrity created by a 28-year-old Korean woman

Mar 21, 2013

On March 20th, Fleamadonna presented its 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection at Rooms Link. Designer Jei Kim, originally from South Korea, made his Tokyo Collection debut. He presented the first half of the show in collaboration with Nozomiishigurotambourine. The show kicked off with Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto playing. A model appeared wearing a quilted two-piece suit made of black satin. The collection continued in a black theme. The collection took a dramatic turn midway through, showcasing brighter looks in white, pale blues, pinks, yellows, and floral prints. While using seemingly formal materials like fur, faux leather, satin, and chiffon, the collection added street-casual elements like tiger patches, quilting, and clear materials for bags and boots. "This time, the theme is celebrities who go bankrupt and have no money. I started by imagining what would happen to the mischievous foreign celebrities we often see in the media if they ran out of money. The first monochrome series represented the poor and dark times after they ran out of money. But in the end, I used bright colors to convey the story of how, even though they were poor, they were able to dress up in clothes given to them by their mothers and continue to live as celebrities, and be happy," commented Jay.
