On March 20th, KAMISHIMA CHINAMI presented its 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection. The designer was KAMISHIMA CHINAMI.
Under the theme of "luster," the beauty of Japanese women was portrayed through color and print. The show opened with a vibrant red coat and a dress printed with Ikeda Masuo's print "Holy Hands." Sharp-cut jackets, scarves, knitwear, and yellow and blue coats featuring KAMISHIMA CHINAMI's signature prints evoking light and nature were featured.
"Holy Hands" was also used as a print on clothing and as a scarf pattern, and the check pattern was designed to evoke the image of carving a print. By mixing masculine designs with light, feminine designs reminiscent of spring and summer, the collection also expresses both feminine strength and vulnerability.
"Tsuya is a fascinating word with a deep meaning that is unique to Japanese, which expresses both the outer and inner beauty of a woman, just like this word. I created this collection with the hope of expressing both the outer and inner beauty of a woman. Also, Ikeda Masuo was fascinated by a portrait of a woman by the 15th century painter Van der Weyden, and created a new work based on the hand. I also thought the print was wonderful, and by using his work as a print, I wanted to convey a message of the sense of sharing through history," says the designer himself.
