On March 21st, designer Atsushi Nakashima presented his 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection at Shibuya Hikarie. Under the theme of "Two Faces," the collection expressed a surreal duality.
The first look was a jacquard dress featuring herringbone wool that transitioned into striped cupro at the hem. Numerous pieces featured different materials at different seams, such as a white shirt seemingly wrapped in a gray gilet, and black suit sleeves that merged with a knit vest. While deconstructing and reconstructing two distinct elements, the collection was careful not to overpower them. The final look featured a white shirt with only the collar and corset-shaped bodice remaining, paired with a black flared skirt featuring a sheer material. In keeping with the image of an intelligent and sharp woman, the makeup was very natural, but the hair was cut short and straight.
This time, the dressy designs were toned down, but many neat, classic items were incorporated. Nakajima expressed his hope that "fast fashion is popular in Tokyo, and casual wear is the norm, but I hope that luxury lines such as ready-to-wear will be accepted."
