While surfing in the United States has traditionally been associated with the West Coast, New York has also seen a surfing boom in recent years. City surfers head to Rockaway and Long Beach, accessible by subway from Manhattan, and surfing contests are held across the Atlantic in New Jersey. The New York Surf Film Festival is held here, and SoHo and Tribeca are home to popular surf shops. Among these, SATURDAYS SURF NYC, located in New York's SoHo and West Village, is attracting attention for its stylish surf gear and original apparel that combines traditional and wearable styles. Following the opening of its Daikanyama store in Tokyo last year, SATURDAYS SURF KOBE (78 Kyomachi, Chuo-ku, Kobe), its second store in Japan and its first in the Kansai region, will open on April 5th. A full lineup of apparel items is available. The facility will also feature an espresso bar serving original blend coffee from a dedicated roaster. Similar to New York and Tokyo, this community space will be a place for nature-loving city dwellers to "share some quiet time" in the Kobe Foreign Settlement, a neighborhood lined with high-end boutiques and popular outdoor shops.
