The new commercial facility "MARINE & WALK YOKOHAMA" (1-3-1 Shinko, Naka-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture), under construction in the Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 Shinko District, will finally hold its grand opening on March 4th. A press preview was held on the 2nd, inviting stakeholders and local residents, revealing the entire facility.
The facility takes advantage of Yokohama's unique oceanfront landscape. The idea of creating a street in a seaside warehouse district led to a seamless connection between the sea and greenery, creating an open mall filled with a sense of spaciousness. Shops with unique facades line the central street, and relaxing furniture is installed throughout. Nearby attractions include the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, Cup Noodles Museum, and Yokohama World Porters, making it the perfect place for strolling and sightseeing. The building, with one basement floor and two above-ground floors (some sections are five stories tall), houses 24 stores, including some newcomers to Yokohama and the Kanto region, as well as new businesses.
Fred Segal, a select shop from Los Angeles, USA, which made its Japanese debut last year, has opened its Japanese flagship store within the same building. The Yokohama store is based on the theme of "Laid-Back Luxury in sportive Lifestyle," and offers a wide range of men's and women's apparel and cosmetics. In reference to the seaside town, the store has also opened its first surf shop, "SURF VILLAGE AT Fred Segal." The store will feature a huge selection of surfboards as well as a wide range of sportswear and accessories perfect for the ocean. Additionally, like the first Daikanyama store, there will also be a food market called "THE MARAT AT FRED SEGAL." Offering original goods and carefully selected ingredients, this store also features a food hall with ocean views. Camden's Blue Donuts, a popular donut shop from Portland, Oregon, will also be opening a store.
"COMMUNITY MILL," a new type of shop by Beads International, is a lifestyle shop that offers the free and rich style of California. It offers a wide selection of furniture, miscellaneous goods, and apparel from around the world. The SODA BAR, a drinks stand set up inside the store, serves handmade carbonated drinks and takeaway food.
NEIGHBORHOOD, designed by Shinsuke Takizawa, is opening its first store in Yokohama. The brand stocks its entire lineup, from its main brand to kids' brands and even LUKER, which is based on the UK culture concept. In keeping with its location in Yokohama, the store has been completely transformed from its predecessors, incorporating white and wood tones.
