LA-based Fred Segal aims to localize its stores, targeting tourists from the US. Yokohama is the location of the second store.

American lifestyle multi-brand secret shop Fred Segal has opened its doors at Log Road Daikanyama, marking its first overseas store and its first appearance in Japan.
Fred Segal was founded in Los Angeles in 1961 and, as a pioneer of lifestyle-oriented select shops, has become a favorite with many celebrities and has grown into a representative shop on the West Coast. Fred Segal Daikanyama, its first overseas store, is based on the concept of "Laid-back cal luxe," proposing the relaxed, laid-back style of the American West Coast combined with a modern, urban lifestyle. It targets adult men and women in their 30s and 40s.
Fred Segal WOMAN, located in Building 3, has created a fresh space featuring a white base and light wood-tone fixtures. A sectioned-off area like a private room offers a lineup of luxury brands such as MARNI, LANVIN, and N°21. Around the counter, cosmetics and lifestyle goods are displayed, including logo-printed goods like tote bags and iPhone cases. Collaboration items like a MOLESKINE notebook (¥2,800) and a knapsack from Yoshida & Co.'s PORTER brand (¥18,500) are also available, along with a specially commissioned travel set from lingerie and one-mile wear brand SKINWARE (¥10,000). A pop-up corner, whose contents change every two weeks, also features a wide selection of vintage Chanel bags. Fred Segal MAN, located in Building 4, spans two floors. Based on the concept of a "gentleman's mansion," the store preserves the American style of the good old days while showcasing a modern style through its own unique lens. The denim bar on the first floor has a wide selection of vintage denim, and the well-stocked shoe section is releasing a limited edition pair of lace-up shoes (83,000 yen) in collaboration with Tricker's to commemorate the store's opening. There's also a selection of carefully selected items, such as bicycles and headphones. The second floor offers sophisticated apparel brands like Lanvin, Marc Jacobs, and Maison Margiela, and the eyewear section even has an eye exam room. There's also a relaxing space with a large sofa and an open terrace, allowing you to relax while you shop.

Fred Segal CEO Paul Blum said, "We didn't just bring the shop over from our home country as is, but re-edited it as a local store for Japan. Daikanyama is an ideal location for our first overseas store, as it's urban yet also incorporates nature, and being a residential area, it's also appealing for people who live there to feel comfortable visiting. We want to aim for a place that can be incorporated into people's lifestyles, rather than just for shopping. We expect to see an increase in visitors from the United States in the future." The second store has been decided to open in Yokohama, and the company intends to continue increasing the number of domestic stores in the future if the location is suitable.
