JFW Japan Creation & Premium Textile Japan to open at International Forum on the 5th

Nov 4, 2014

The Japan Fashion Week Organization held a press conference in Tokyo and announced the details of JFW Japan Creation 2015 (JFW-JC) and Premium Textile Japan 2015 A/W (PTJ), which will be held at the Tokyo International Forum in Yurakucho, Tokyo, for two days on November 5th and 6th. JFW-JC, Japan's only textile trade fair bringing together production areas and companies from all over the country, will feature 269 exhibitors, including 41 companies from overseas, including Korea, Taiwan, China, and Thailand, exhibiting in the textile zone. PTJ, a textile business meeting that provides a forum for business matching between textile manufacturers producing high-value-added materials and buyers from apparel retail companies and designers from designer brands, will feature 68 exhibitors. They will introduce the latest textiles, related products, and clothing materials.

Last year, a combined total of approximately 20,000 people visited "JFW-JC" and "PTJ" due to the synergistic effect of being held together. At this year's "JFW-JC", a Trend & Index Corner has been set up at the entrance to the venue, where "PTJ" visitors can also enter freely. The Trend Corner will feature 576 items that will be trending next year (294 items at "JFW-JC" and 282 items at "PTJ"), while the JFW-JC Index Corner will introduce 175 items from Japan and overseas. The "Forum" seminar, showcasing the latest information on Japanese textiles, fashion, and the market, will feature four seminars: "This is Japanese Skill and Quality" (presented by Tsuji Yosuke, president of Tsuji Clothing Stores, and Yamashita Takashi, manager of the Quality Control Department at Onward Kashiyama, at 2 PM on the 5th); "Trend Changes Revealed Through 34 Years of 'Regular Observation'" (presented by Takano Kimiko, editor-in-chief of Parco's "WEB ACROSS" editorial department, at 4 PM on the 5th); "Trends in Functional Materials with Eco-Friendly Features" (presented by Yang Xiaoqin, deputy secretary-general of the Taiwan Textile Federation, at 11 AM on the 6th); and "Japan's Capabilities Revealed at MilanoUnica" (presented by Kaihara Chairman Ryoji Kaihara and Japan Textile Exporters Association Researcher Muto Kazuyoshi, both on the 6th). Other events include the "Forum Presentation," an industry-academia collaboration aimed at discovering talented individuals with textile knowledge and creative ideas, and an exhibition of Tokyo Leather Pigskin 2015, which was featured in a runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo.

Admission to "JFW-JC" is 2,000 yen on the day, with a 1,000 yen student discount for advance registration.

Meanwhile, "PTJ," which is limited to buyers and invited guests, will have a PTJ Index Corner where each company's best-selling materials will be compiled and displayed as an index by exhibit zone. A total of 246 items will be exhibited, including 181 textiles and 65 clothing materials.

In addition, a business matching program will be held where invited JFW buyers and participating companies will hold business negotiations in individual, dedicated business rooms, with four major apparel and retail companies that use a high proportion of Japanese materials, four JFW participating brands, and 20 "PTJ" exhibitors participating. 41 matches will be made. Participating major apparel retailers and brands include San-A International's "Jill Stuart," Tokyo Style's "Natural Beauty," Renown's "Charge," Italia's "Pink Champagne," Maiko Kurokawa of "mame," Hiroharu Ando of "lessthan*" and "MIDDLA," Masami Matsui of "Sise," and Yasutoshi Esumi of "Yasutoshi Ezumi." Akira Kawashima, Executive Director of JFW's Textile Business, said, "With a combined attendance of approximately 20,000 people for both exhibitions, this is arguably the world's largest exhibition per square meter. The content will remain largely unchanged from previous years, but in terms of operations, we've increased the number of JFW-JC reception desks from one to two, set up a group reception desk, and increased the number of guides. We've also trialed mailing passes based on the visitor list from the past three years to make entry smoother."
