Noir Kei Ninomiya, the designer behind Ninomiya Kei, held a mini-show for his Fall/Winter 2017-18 collection at the COMME des GARÇONS showroom. The collection's theme was "flowers." Red, a color that accentuated the black, was used for the first time. While the collection featured elaborate pieces characteristic of the brand, such as a blouson made of faux fur parts connected with rings and a cotton-filled blouson made of vinyl material connected with chain stitching, there were also dresses and blousons that could be used for everyday wear, showcasing a new dimension. However, upon closer inspection, chains were sewn into the rider's jacket and macramé was used on the hooded coat. Every piece exuded the intricate handcrafting of the pieces. A rose-motif jacket, made of cut organza tape woven through a tape-like material resembling thorny stems, was captivatingly beautiful.
The finale featured a cape coat and dress made from metallic PVC sheets folded like origami to resemble flowers. While maintaining the unique worldview of the collection, the number of pieces presented was increased, making it a truly impressive collection.
