On March 23, KEITA MARUYAMA presented its Fall/Winter 2017-18 collection at PUB CARDINAL GINZA in Tokyo's Sukiyabashi district. The theme was "Swinging." Following on from the previous collection, the collection featured four presentations using models, rather than a traditional runway show. The venue was PUB CARDINAL, Japan's first London pub, established in 1966. The models sat on sofas, enjoying meals, playing games, and smiling while taking photos with their phones. The designs featured typical KEITA MARUYAMA pieces, blending classic British style with Japanese and Asian influences and techniques. The collection featured hunting-pattern coats and tops featuring forest flora and fauna, such as foxes, rabbits, and birds, along with knitwear and checkered and striped bottoms. The collection included coats featuring floral and plant designs, chunky knit coats incorporating forest scenes, and knitwear combining a variety of patterns and techniques. The dresses also seem to have been reborn as a fusion of riding clothes and Chinese dresses. Patterns, embroidery, and prints expand the story.
Maruyama Keita said, "At first, I was looking for a venue with a London Swinging Girl theme, but it was going to be gone at the end of the month (Sony Building will be temporarily closed at the end of March due to the closure of business), so I decided on this venue. I was hesitant because it was a little small for a presentation, but I've been going there since I was young, and the atmosphere of the good old days made it perfect. As for the design, I wanted to express a happier feeling, and I paid more attention than ever to the high quality of each item, such as the handmade knitwear, and the incredible craftsmanship."
