On February 24th, ETRO presented its Fall/Winter 2017-18 women's collection in Milan. Various flags hung throughout the venue, and a long rainbow-patterned carpet greeted the crowd. This season's theme was "Paisley Tribe." Etro's traditional aesthetic was redefined by fusing ethnic elements with sporty pieces and paisley prints. The looks featured functional outdoor wear, including oversized tweed parkas, jacquard down jackets, and shearling jackets. The vibrant colors reminiscent of Scandinavian folk costumes, combined with hand-embroidered and quilted paisley patterns, created a strikingly vibrant impression. Additionally, the collection also featured pieces with an oriental vibe, such as kimono-sleeved mini dresses, quilted judo-style outerwear, and lotus and dragon motifs. Ultra-mini bottoms and flat boots added a fresh, youthful look.
The show evoked the free-spirited minds of nomads who travel the world freely and hippies who are not bound by established values. Multi-ethnic groups and colors mixed together on a paisley pattern, creating a show that was as fantastical as a kaleidoscope, exuding infinite charm. Etro has announced that next season it will hold a joint show for its men's and women's collections. We can look forward to seeing this show created through collaborative efforts.
