Maison Margiela will open a pop-up store focusing on its "Tabi" shoes from March 29th to April 4th at Center Park/The Stage #3 on the 3rd floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building.
The "Tabi" shoes are inspired by traditional Japanese footwear, featuring a tabi-like toe and cylindrical heel. Updated each season with a variety of colors and finishes, they have become an iconic part of the brand, evolving with the times.
The pop-up store will carry the brand's full lineup, from classic boots to ballet flats, strap sandals, wedge sandals, and even the rubber-soled scuba boots that appeared on the runway in the Spring/Summer 2017 collection. To celebrate the opening of the pop-up store, the store will offer a pre-sale of hybrid scuba boots featuring a jacquard print featuring Napoleon's wife, Josephine, and a rubber sole, as well as a Japan-exclusive wedge sandal. Other items available include the Maison's iconic "5AC" bag and new items from the 2017 Spring/Summer Défilé Collection.
The venue will feature a digital installation that depicts the story of "Tabi" along a timeline, from past archive pieces to artisanal pieces by current creative director John Galliano. It promises to be a space where visitors can fully experience the Maison's identity and philosophy as it undergoes change and evolution.
