Moonbat and Teijin Frontier launch new "Sunnywink" functional umbrella for hard weather

Nov 13, 2013
Moonbat and Teijin Frontier have launched a new joint brand, "Sunnywink," a functional umbrella for hard weather. Teijin Frontier has long provided Moonbat with a variety of materials for its umbrella fabrics. Moonbat has built a strong partnership, selling umbrellas that use Teijin Frontier's functional materials to block sunlight, including infrared rays. This new project will further combine Moonbat's product capabilities with Teijin Frontier's material capabilities to develop a variety of umbrellas that can withstand the increasingly noticeable UV rays of early spring, the intense heat of summer, and sudden downpours. The two companies will jointly develop a functional umbrella brand for hard weather and explore new markets. The new brand, "Sunnywink," embodies the idea of effortlessly weathering harsh weather symbolized by the sun, including intense UV rays, infrared rays, and the intense heat of summer. Moonbat will collect customer feedback, including requests for functional umbrellas and best-selling information, through its website and in-store at department stores. After conducting an analysis, the two companies will share information and make proposals regarding customer needs. Meanwhile, Teijin Frontier will utilize its own capabilities in developing raw yarns and fabrics, as well as its material processing technology, to develop original materials for the "Sunnywink" brand based on customer needs.

The plan is to launch two to three new products per year. In the future, the two companies will not limit themselves to functional umbrellas, but will also promote the development of new products such as clothing accessories that can withstand hard weather. Through the development of the "Sunnywink" brand, the two companies aim to achieve sales of 1 billion yen in 2014 based on product retail prices.
