Teijin Frontier sells curtain material that prevents pollen from entering indoors

Feb 19, 2013
Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd. has developed a new polyester lace curtain material for pollen prevention, "F-COT," and will begin selling it in March.

The greatest feature of "F-COT" is its unique crimp structure, which effectively traps pollen. It is said to capture more than twice the amount of pollen compared to regular polyester curtain materials. The trapped pollen can be easily removed by washing, and its trapping function returns after washing, allowing for continued use with peace of mind.

Curtains treated with pollen-trapping adhesives often lose their pollen trapping effect over time, so "F-COT," which does not deteriorate in function, is a major selling point.

Made of durable, quick-drying polyester fiber, it can be easily washed in a home washing machine. Its elegant, cotton-like finish blends seamlessly with a wide range of interiors, from natural to modern.

In addition, by combining it with Super Ecstar, a flame-retardant polyester fiber developed by Teijin Fibers, flame-retardant performance can be added to the pollen-trapping function.

The sales target for F-COT is 50 tons/year this fiscal year and 100 tons/year in fiscal 2014.

Weathernews predicts that the amount of cedar and cypress pollen released this year will increase significantly compared to last year. Pollen season is already underway in most areas of Japan. F-COT, which has an improved fiber structure, is likely to attract attention from all over as a new tool for combating pollen.
