Made in Fukui, umbrellas priced at 30,000 yen each are selling well

Dec 6, 2012

The "Nurenza" umbrella from Fukui Yougasa has been added to the women's goods section on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku store following its remodeled reopening. The company, headquartered in Fukui City, handcrafts each umbrella individually.
The umbrella's fabric is made with a patented water-repellent material that repels raindrops with a single shake. The wooden grip features genuine leather loops, allowing it to be carried around by the arm, making it an item that pursues functionality and portability. It costs ¥30,450. Isetan Shinjuku sold four umbrellas in the first two days of its November 28 release. Because it protects leather seats from getting wet, it is also available at Toyota Lexus shops.
In addition to 12 colors inspired by Japanese colors, Isetan Shinjuku also offers a special checkered pattern (¥36,750). Custom-made umbrellas are also available starting at ¥30,450, with adjustable length, number of ribs, and grip options available.
