This year's Meguro River illuminations are cherry blossom pink! The lighting section has been extended and approximately 420,000 LEDs have been used to create a "winter cherry blossom" effect.

Nov 11, 2016

"Meguro River Everyone's Illuminations 2016," featuring "winter cherry blossoms" illuminated with cherry-colored LEDs, will be held from November 18th to January 9th, 2017, at the Shinagawa City Gotanda Fureai Waterfront Square and along the Meguro River.

"Meguro River Everyone's Illuminations" is an illumination event using 100% locally produced energy, using used cooking oil collected from the surrounding area. Held annually for the past six years, this year, Shinagawa Ward, a longtime sponsor, will also be hosting an illumination event at the same time, significantly extending the illumination area and making it the largest-ever event.

The venue will feature "winter cherry blossoms" illuminated with over 420,000 cherry-colored LEDs, nearly double last year's number. The illuminations along the Meguro River will also be the largest illuminations within the Yamanote Line, stretching for 1.1 kilometers, and you can enjoy the beautiful lights reflecting on the water's surface.
