Roppongi Hills' 2016 Christmas illuminations can be touched, moved, and taken home!

Oct 20, 2016

Roppongi Hills' Christmas event, "Artelligent Christmas 2016," kicks off with the lighting of the "Keyakizaka Galaxy Illumination" along Roppongi Keyakizaka Street from November 14th to December 25th. The "Keyakizaka Galaxy Illumination" is a spectacular illumination display that illuminates Keyakizaka Street with approximately 1.2 million lights over a 400-meter stretch. Enjoy two different types of lights—cool and warm—at different times of the day. While the popular "Snow & Blue" color scheme remains, this year's warm "Candle & Red" color scheme has been updated with a new "Candle & Amber" color scheme, bathing Keyakizaka Street in a powerful yet warm glow. Additionally, a smartphone-linked event will be available, allowing users to change the color of the power stones hanging from a specific tree by scanning a designated QR code and selecting a color. Enjoy fortune-telling based on the color, and even receive a free mobile photo frame. At 66 Plaza, the entrance to Roppongi Hills, a giant 7.5-meter-tall Christmas tree will be set up, decorated with 1,200 incandescent bulbs, garlands, and approximately 180 gift boxes. The tree's Christmas colors, primarily green, red, and champagne gold, create a festive atmosphere. Starting November 18th, West Walk will be illuminated with "light balloons." By incorporating special electronic circuits into the light-reflecting balloons, the tree appears to be filled with Christmas motifs, such as snowflakes and stars, floating in the air. You can also take the "light balloons" home with you. Furthermore, starting November 26th, the 10th annual "Christmas Market" will be held. This market, a replica of the world's largest Christmas market in Stuttgart, Germany, will feature a total of 11 stores, including Käthe Wohlfahrt, which sells German Christmas items, as well as shops offering over 1,000 types of Christmas goods and German cuisine. This year, there will also be a special menu and original mugs to commemorate the 10th anniversary.

During the period, Roppongi Hills will also be hosting a Christmas concert, the "Fir Tree Shop," and an event for sending Christmas cards. The Hills Observatory will also be hosting the "Starry Sky Illumination," which recreates the starry sky with illuminations until January 29, 2017.
