The Christmas illumination lighting ceremony for "OMOTESANDO HILLS CHRISTMAS 2016 with Panasonic Beauty" was held at Omotesando Hills on November 9th. Actress Masami Nagasawa played the important role of lighting up the 10-meter-tall "Star Tree" at the opening ceremony. The Christmas illuminations, titled "Find your stars—A starry Christmas," began, and the town finally became filled with a festive atmosphere.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Omotesando Hills created a large, 10-sided object and a "Star Tree" made of approximately 15,000 gold and white LED lights that twinkle like stars to express their gratitude. The "Star Tree" also features a romantic twist: visitors can stop by a booth located under the atrium staircase and wave a star stick at the tree to begin the magic! Visitors can enjoy a hands-on performance featuring three special illuminations. At the ceremony, Nagasawa Masami appeared in a nude-colored long dress embroidered with butterfly patterns. After a large vintage bell rang three times, the tree lit up, creating a festive atmosphere. In an interview, Nagasawa commented, "I was moved by the production, which made me feel like I was surrounded by a starry sky. With Christmas approaching, I hope everyone will feel excited both physically and mentally by seeing the glittering illuminations." Regarding her plans for this year, she said, "I have rehearsals for my play, so I hope to enjoy Christmas with everyone on stage." She also frequently visits Omotesando Hills in her private time, revealing her ideal Christmas experience: "If I have a day off, I'd like to go to a place with these illuminations and have a fun dinner."
