The Mitsukoshi Isetan Group's Christmas campaign, which is common to all stores, focuses on the Winter Solstice Festival, said to be the origin of Christmas. The main movie for the campaign was a promotional video for the Winter Solstice Festival, which featured over 800 citizens from Shibetsu City, Hokkaido.
The Mitsukoshi Isetan Group's 2016 Christmas theme is "LIFE IS A GIFT: A celebration that brings the sun to our hearts." Focusing on the Winter Solstice Festival, a time of prayer for safe passage through the long winter and gratitude to the sun for giving us the strength to live, the group will offer lifestyle suggestions and product lineups to warm the hearts of customers and inspire them.
The main movie for this campaign follows "ISETAN-TAN-TAN," a dance video performed by Isetan Mitsukoshi Group employees that has been viewed over 1 million times, and last year's "Christmas Jenka." This promotional video for the Winter Solstice Festival features scenes of animals living in Hokkaido's natural environment, smiling people, blazing flames, and the rising sun, the source of life, all captured in the 2-minute, 31-second video. The Winter Solstice Festival will actually be held in Shibetsu, Hokkaido, on December 17th. Additionally, as part of its Christmas campaign, the Isetan Mitsukoshi Group is releasing eight limited-edition shopping bags. These bags depict various animals gazing up at the sun and offering their gratitude, conveying the message that "humans aren't the only characters in celebrations." Additionally, wrapping paper and flat bags have been produced that evoke the vibrant colors of the sky, as night turns to morning with the power of the sun. Message cards and stickers depicting the powerful sun rising from beyond the mountains are also planned.
