The "Port Journey Project: Yokohama Shanghai Lu Yang" exhibition, focusing on Shanghai-based media artist Lu Yang, is running at Zou-no-hana Terrace in Yokohama until November 18th.
The exhibition is being held as part of efforts to build ties between Yokohama and Shanghai. Yokohama and Shanghai are sister cities, and the Port of Yokohama and Shanghai are sister ports. The two cities share deep cultural and industrial ties, and since 2015, they have been working to build ties through the "Port Journey Project," which connects the world's creative port cities.
This inaugural exhibition of the project introduces Shanghai-based media artist Lu Yang. Lu Yang's work, which casually depicts a world beyond human reach, sprinkles spirituality and a love of nature within an overly pop aesthetic packed with destructive icons (herself) and animation and visuals that frequently use them.
