Acne Studios will open its first Asian flagship store in Aoyama tomorrow, Friday, December 14th. A preview of the interior has been unveiled ahead of the opening. The shop, which spans two above-ground floors and one basement floor, will stock not only men's and women's clothing, but also shoes, bags, and Acne Paper, the brand's magazine. The design, inspired by modern Swedish homes, combines a variety of materials and colors. Even the carpeting on the floor is partially made of marble, creating a pattern reminiscent of a contemporary painting. The "collage" concept seen here is a testament to Acne's unique sensibility, which revels in the possibilities that arise when different elements come together by chance. Creative director Jonny Johansson (pictured left in the first photo) will also be visiting Japan to coincide with the opening. "I think Japanese people and we share a similar sense of beauty, such as nature and color. It's still unknown what will happen after the opening, but I look forward to future developments," he said.
A presentation of some of the new Spring/Summer 2013 collection, which was unveiled in London, was also held. The women's collection, created around the concept of "Song," was inspired by the music of Emmy Lou Harris. It featured a collage of natural materials beloved by Acne, such as leather, cotton, and denim. Johnny's favorite pairing was a T-shirt paired with a striped, strapless dress. Its flowing lines are characteristic. The men's collection featured striped layered outfits and denim sets. Even the accessories showed attention to detail, including flat, round eyewear that took 10 years to create, a Panama hat created in collaboration with Borsalino, and gold and silver leather shoes with rubber soles.
