Jean-Paul Hévin celebrates the release of Vin Nouveau with fromage chocolat at "Menu Terroir"

Nov 21, 2016

From November 17th to 30th, Jean-Paul Hevin's eat-in space, Bar à Chocolat, will be offering a limited-time menu called "Menu Terroir" (1,470 yen), where you can enjoy the release of Beaujolais Nouveau with chocolate.

The third Thursday of November is also known in Japan as the release date of Beaujolais Nouveau. As in previous years, Jean-Paul Hevin will be serving Beaujolais Nouveau from La Grande Colline, a natural wine crafted in the Rhone region by Japanese winemaker Hirotake Ooka. La Grande Colline is made from grapes grown without antioxidants, allowing you to enjoy the pure and delicate fruitiness of the grapes grown in the region. 2016 was the final vintage for the Beaujolais Nouveau winemaking. To accompany this wine, we will be offering four types of chocolate fromages, each featuring a unique Evin accent, perfectly paired with fromage (cheese). These include the rich and full-bodied "Epoisses" from Burgundy, "Pont-l'Eveque" from Normandy, which has a lingering aftertaste of mellow milk, "Roquefort" from Roquefort-sur-Soulzon, made with sheep's milk aged in blue mold, and "Chèvre," featuring the distinctive aroma and mild acidity of goat's milk. Each type is infused with herbs and spices and coated in chocolate noir. Guests can choose two of the four. Also, to celebrate the launch of the Nouveau wine, we have decided to offer chocolate fromages year-round. The "Boîte Chocolat Aperitif" (8 pieces/3,010 yen) will be available every Friday starting in December.
