The Thai women's brand Sretsis kicked off the 2014-2015 Autumn/Winter season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo, which began on the 17th.
The brand, created by the three sisters Pim, Krai, and Matina Sukhafta, began selling in Japan four years ago and has now become a popular brand among celebrities and models. As their business in Japan has expanded, their desire to further promote the brand's worldview has grown, leading to their participation in this event.
The theme was "THE CURIOUS CLUB OF GENTLEWOMEN." The collection embodied the image of a British gentleman's club, but for Sretsis-style gentlewomen. A heavy door bearing the words "MEMBERS ONLY" was placed on the runway, and when the doorman opened it, a model clad in a black tailored jacket appeared. Under the shaped-waisted jacket, she pairs a short jumpsuit with a print of cute girls' faces, reminiscent of chalkboard drawings. This mix of feminine and masculine elements, with a touch of humor, is a style that is unique to Sretsis.
The collection continues to showcase femininity to the fullest, with a cheerleader-style logo sweater featuring large "S Revolution" lettering, retro-print cropped pants, a romantic shirt dress with a white collar and bottom pleats, and large pearl earrings dangling from the ears. Another signature style of the brand is a girly mini dress with a wide open back, revealing a sexy look.
The makeup is a little bolder, incorporating masculine elements, and the look is unified with monochrome patent leather shoes. Boots that look like socks complete the look.
The carnation, a classic gentleman's club accessory, is a key motif this season. Dyed in pink and blue, they were given a modern twist. They graced the collection in various ways, from corsages adorning the chests of mannish suits to ribbons with jagged edges resembling carnation petals, adorning the collars of skirts and blouses with frills. Check and carnation patterns were combined on fur coats and dresses. The second half of the show showcased a more feminine mood, with soft, see-through negligee-style blouses and dresses, pastel-colored mesh dresses, and dresses sprinkled with flower petals. Kiko and Yuka Mizuhara, sisters who walked the show, also embodied the brand's fantastical worldview, showcasing everything from a sweet and sassy style of a rider's jacket paired with a ruffled blouse and bow tie to a princess-style carnation-patterned dress.
