The 6th Ginza Fashion Week (GFW) will be held at Matsuya Ginza, Ginza Mitsukoshi, and Printemps Ginza from March 19th to 31st. Ahead of the event, three stores held presentations on the 17th.
GFW began in October 2011 to coincide with Japan Fashion Week with the goal of "invigorating Japan through fashion from the global Ginza." This year, the 6th edition will be held, extending the event's duration from seven days to 13 days. To further promote Ginza's overall vibrancy, the three stores have adopted the common theme of "Enjoy Ginza." Each store will also create its own unique theme and propose original products and events.
Matsuya Ginza will focus on the timeless Japanese blue, indigo, under the theme of "Japan Blue." 96 products from 55 brands will be available throughout the building, showcasing a variety of blues. The department store's basement floor will feature a "Sakura" theme, with long-established Japanese and Western confectionery shops in the Ginza area offering original items. The store will also extend its business hours from 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM for four days from the 28th to the 31st as a last chance before the consumption tax increase. On the 29th, a one-day special party will be held, with a gift campaign and a "something blue" dress code. Customers who arrive wearing something blue on the day will receive a gift on a first-come, first-served basis. Ginza Mitsukoshi will highlight the Ivy League look and "Miyuki-zoku" style under the theme of "Ginza Retro Modern." The women's section will offer clothing and accessories that modernize the fashion sense of the 1960s girls who enjoyed fashion on Miyuki Street. The men's section will feature a "New Ivy Studies" program, offering a modern take on Ivy League fashion. In addition, a limited-time shop for VAN, the brand that sparked the Ivy League boom in Japan, will open, along with numerous fashion shows and talk events. A talk show themed on 1960s fashion and culture will be held by Ginza magazine editor-in-chief Toshiko Nakajima on March 19 at 4:00 PM, followed by a talk show on March 21 at 1:00 PM by director Terry Ito.
The theme of Printemps Ginza is "Enjoy Ginza's Spring in a Glamorous Way!" The store will propose real clothes for women in their 20s and 30s incorporating trends like pink (cherry blossom color) and floral patterns for three cherry blossom-related occasions: "Commute to the New Year," "Spring Date in Ginza," and "Cherry Blossom Viewing After Work." The department store's basement floor will offer a selection of cherry blossom sweets, including cherry blossom eclairs and bagels. Other planned events, focusing on art and fragrance, will stimulate all five senses, including a spray art performance by art performer "☆Fighter☆" and a limited-time shop by fragrance artist "Hiroko.K."
From March 26th to 31st, the "GINZA FASHION WEEK RALLY" will be held as a measure to encourage people to visit three stores, using the Let's Enjoy Tokyo rally booklet and app. Customers who bring the booklet with them to the store or check in using the "ima Cocode" app will be able to receive special benefits such as original gifts.
