Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO kicked off on March 17th. Over six days, 45 brands, including eight international brands, will present their 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collections at the main venue, Shibuya Hikarie, through March 22nd. The opening show was a show by Sretsis, a Thai women's fashion brand gaining popularity among Japanese talent and models. Special guest actress and model Riisa Naka sat in the front row wearing a lace dress from the brand. After the show, Naka, who appeared in front of the press with her sisters, the designers of Sretsis, shared her thoughts on the show, saying, "The music, production, and fashion were all perfect and incredibly cute. It felt like I was in a fantasy world." She also commented on fashion, saying, "Right now, I'm interested in the style of combining sporty pieces with girly pieces. I learned a lot about next fall/winter fashion at today's show, and I'd like to incorporate some of that into my own style."
Also, at the opening ceremony held before the show, Japan Fashion Week Organization Chairman Miyake Masahiko, Mercedes-Benz Japan Representative Executive Vice President and CFO Tina Futani, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Matsushima Midori, Shibuya Ward Mayor Kuwabara Toshitake, and Japan Fashion Week Organization Director Ota Nobuyuki took to the stage. They cut the ribbon to express their hopes for new creations to be launched from Tokyo.
