"In-train App" launched, allowing magazines to be purchased article by article

Mar 27, 2014

A joint venture between Bandai Namco Group's VIBE and Toppan Printing has launched the "In-train Ad App," a magazine sales service. By downloading the free app, you can purchase magazines individually. Prices range from 50 to 100 yen. You can also purchase one article per day for free.

In the main interface, you can flip through the ads to find your favorite magazine or article that interests you. When you tap on an in-train ad in a magazine, the ad will be displayed full screen, so you can tap on the article that interests you to go to the purchase screen. The article will immediately begin downloading. A viewer will then automatically launch within the app, allowing you to read the purchased article. Once you have purchased an article, you can reread it at any time.

The main content featured includes 14 magazines from 12 companies (as of March 2014), such as Hearst Fujingaho's MEN'S CLUB, Toyo Keizai Inc.'s Weekly Toyo Keizai, Shufu to Seikatsusha's Weekly Josei, Kobunsha's FLASH, Fusosha's Weekly SPA!, Mainichi Shimbun's Sunday Mainichi and Weekly Economist, and Nippon Sports Kikaku Publishing's Weekly Soccer Digest. The official website is currently accepting suggestions from users for magazines they would like to see featured. As well as increasing the number of magazines, the site also aims to strengthen its integration with social media.

Supported OS: Android 4.0 or later (some device models are not supported). Support for iOS is currently under consideration.
