An exhibition by Toshimasa Kikuchi will be held, showcasing works reconstructed from waste materials and works using traditional Japanese techniques.

Jul 13, 2016

Artist Toshimasa Kikuchi's "Confronting Objects: Harmony of Form and Form" will be held at the Pola Museum Annex in Ginza, Tokyo, from July 16th to 31st.
Toshimasa Kikuchi is an artist who studies the techniques and materials of classical works and creates three-dimensional works using dry lacquer and wood carving, based on the concept of fusing them with contemporary art. He creates beautiful works that harmonize natural science with motifs such as mathematical models (solids formed by functions), sea urchins, and bones. The exhibition will feature works reconstructed from natural history specimens and waste materials, as well as works created using traditional Japanese techniques, all in the same space.
Toshimasa Kikuchi commented on the exhibition, "In today's world, there are many reusable resources. Focusing on these resources and utilizing them in the realm of art strongly evokes new creative possibilities and could become a hot spot in contemporary art."
