Nina Ricci's 2013-14 Fall/Winter collection was unveiled at Paris Fashion Week. It was held in a special tent in the Tuileries Gardens. Designer Peter Copping designed the collection.
The femininity-conscious collection was inspired by the world of dance, featuring dancers and dressed-up audiences. The color palette was white and black with red accents, and included pale pink, ecru, and rose beige. Materials included duchess satin, tweed, crepe, silk, and cashmere.
Silhouettes accentuated feminine lines, with tight skirts, corseted dresses, and plunging décolleté sets and capes. Classic elements were also mixed in.
Styles such as ribbed knits and tank tops paired with circular or tight skirts, and looks incorporating sporty elements such as voluminous hooded blousons and coats, evoked the elegance and vivacity of a ballerina.
Finally, there were a selection of luxurious dresses. The mini dresses were lavishly adorned with feathers and ruffles, while the long dresses were adorned with delicate embellishments such as lace and corsages. By keeping each look in a single tone, the texture of the materials was highlighted, creating an air of sophisticated elegance.
Then, on the bright red carpet laid out on the runway, the piano duo Labèque sisters took to the stage to perform Philip Glass's "Two Movements for Two Pianos."
