Founded in 1961 by André Courrèges and renowned for its futuristic designs, Courrèges has been undergoing new development since 2010, when two young entrepreneurs took over ownership. In Japan, Courrèges only sold licensed products through Itokin Co., Ltd. after its Japan subsidiary was closed in 2003. This spring, however, the brand's main line will make its Japanese debut at the "DECADE" concept shop on the second floor of the newly remodeled Isetan Shinjuku store. The flagship store on Rue François in Paris now houses "Courrèges Millesimes," which sells the vintage collection, and this week, "Café Blanc," with a menu curated by Alain Ducasse, opened. Additionally, a pop-up shop is currently open at Galeries Lafayette.
Fabrics are mainly produced in the brand's own factory in Pau, southern France, which is also Courrèges' hometown, while knitwear is produced in a factory in Italy. Popular items include classic styles represented by the Courrèges archives and items made with new materials.
There is also a wide selection of accessories such as bags, eyewear and scarves, and next autumn/winter season will see the release of boots by Robert Clergerie and down coats by Pyrenex, news that fans are already excited about.
