To celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of the Italian brand's Ginza store, two of its designers visited Japan. Photographer Leslie Kee held a one-night-only photo exhibition.
Designers Dean and Dan Caten, who visited the store, commented, "Business in Japan has been going well since we opened this store a year ago. We're always inspired by the unique style of the Japanese people, and we're happy that so many people, like everyone who came tonight, support our brand." Regarding the brand's future development, they said, "We'd like to focus on children's clothing, underwear, swimwear, and more, and we're also interested in running a restaurant."
Also featured on display in the store that day were models Sumire, soccer player (Urawa Reds) Tomoaki Makino, and actor Takumi Saito, all wearing pieces from the 2013 Spring/Summer collection. The photos, along with those taken by Leslie at the Milan show, are included in the not-for-sale collaboration book "Super Dsquared2."
Twin brothers Dean and Dan were born in Ontario, Canada in 1965. After graduating from Parsons School of Design, they founded the brand in 1992. They have presented their women's and men's collections at the Milan Collection. They have a manufacturing and sales licensing agreement with Renzo Rosso, founder and president of DIESEL, and Staff International, a subsidiary of Only the Brave, and the brand's Japanese operations are handled by Staff International Japan Co., Ltd.
