Virtual singer Kafu, garnering attention for her ephemeral yet powerful singing voice

A 16-year-old who is anywhere, yet nowhere, living somewhere in Japan. A next-generation virtual singer with an exceptional singing voice discovered through a variety of coincidences.
In October 2018, she began full-scale activities in the real world as a virtual artist and virtual Instagrammer, while based in the virtual world. Since then, her singing voice and the music videos and photos she posts on social media, blending the real and virtual worlds, have garnered attention, rapidly increasing her follower numbers. Her YouTube channel currently has 340,000 subscribers. In April 2019, she appeared at "VTuber Fes Japan 2019," held within "Niconico Chokaigi 2019," where her unique presence sparked discussion and led to her becoming a Twitter trend. On May 15th, she released her first EP, "Hana to Shinzou," exclusively for digital streaming. She sang her first theme song, "Yoru ga Furitomu Mae ni," for the film "Hot Gimmick: Girl Meets Boy," which was released on June 28th. She launched a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of holding her first solo concert in the summer. She ultimately raised 40 million yen, exceeding her target of 5 million yen, creating a buzz. She then held her long-awaited solo concert at LIQUIDROOM (Ebisu) on August 1st. Tickets for this solo concert sold out immediately, and the entire concert was then live-streamed on YouTube Live, in movie theaters across Japan, and, for the first time in the world, in karaoke rooms, allowing many people to witness the event. The hashtag "#KafuFukakai" reached number one on Twitter trends worldwide, resulting in a huge success. On September 11th, the long-awaited first album, "Kansen," was released in two formats (alpha/beta). On December 25th, "Kansenγ," a remix of the first album, "Kansen," by 13 artists, was released. On March 23rd, 2020, "Fukakai (Repeat)," a reimagining of their first solo concert, "Fukakai," was streamed live from Zepp DiverCity without an audience. "#KafuFukakaiRepeat" became the number one trending topic in Japan on Twitter, generating significant buzz.
In April, her song "Answer" was chosen as the ending theme for the TV anime "Black Clover."
In May, she participated in the IMMERSIVE SONG PROJECT for the ultra-immersive energy drink "ZONe," creating the collaborative song "Dangerous Normal."
In July, Kafu and docomo teamed up for the online exhibition event "HAYABUSA EXPERIENCE by 3.5D x docomo ONLINE EXHIBITION," which imagined the coming era of 5G, and released the theme song "Tomawarai Telepathy." The single also includes remixes by three artists: Hiiragi Kirai, Orangestar, and Hanyu Maigo.
On July 9, the Netflix original anime "Japan Sinks 2020" began streaming worldwide. Her new song "Keshike" was used as the grand ending theme, garnering a lot of attention. On July 22nd, she released her second EP, "Flowers and Answers," which features all tie-up songs. In the songs produced by new generation Vocaloid producer Kanzaki Iori, her voice continues to shine and stand out. Standing between the virtual and the real, she continues to sing in both worlds, and it may be that she will redefine the image of the next generation of artists.
