Yohji Yamamoto's fashion line, WILDSIDE YOHJI YAMAMOTO, has collaborated for the first time with the long-established American military brand SPIEWAK. Based on the G-8 flight jacket adopted by the US Navy Air Force in the 1950s, the resulting garment combines the aesthetics of both brands. This is a one-of-a-kind project where fashion and military uniforms, functionality and aesthetics intersect.

Infusing the iconic military uniform, the “G-8”, with WILDSIDE's aesthetic
For this collaboration, WILDSIDE has reconstructed SPIEWAK's historic G-8 flight jacket in a modern style. Crafted from wool gabardine, a material synonymous with Yohji Yamamoto, it is light yet has a rich look. Light padding is sandwiched between the jacket for increased warmth, making it perfect for the fall and winter seasons.

While retaining traditional details such as flap pockets on both chests, a cigar pocket on the left arm, and action pleats on the back, the front zipper has been changed to a double-zipper design. Side pockets have also been added for greater functionality and comfort. The rugged construction is imbued with WILDSIDE's signature precise aesthetic.

SPIEWAK's Heritage and WILDSIDE's Reconstruction Ability
SPIEWAK was founded in New York in 1904 and is a long-established brand known as an official supplier to the US military. Its durability and functionality have earned it trust over the years. For this collaboration, WILDSIDE has reconstructed SPIEWAK's military uniforms in a fashionable context while respecting their structure. The result is a product that combines the robustness of the product with the poetic tension of clothing.

"Dressing up" and "fighting." While they may seem contradictory, the philosophy underlying this jacket is that both are "armor to protect yourself." This is not simply functional clothing, but a proposal for "outerwear as fashion" that will be passed down through the ages.

Two craftsmen updating the classics
WILDSIDE YOHJI YAMAMOTO and SPIEWAK. One inherits the spirit of a designer who is symbolic of Japanese fashion, while the other is the brand that established American military uniform culture. Both share a respect for handwork and the craftsmanship to elevate practicality into beauty. A new dialogue between fashion and heritage has begun through the iconic item, the G-8 flight jacket.
