CHANEL has launched a new website, "OUTSIDE CHANEL" (outside-chanel.com). Previously, CHANEL had released videos introducing the brand's history, the upbringing of Gabrielle Chanel, and other stories on "INSIDE CHANEL" (inside-chanel.com). In contrast, the new website focuses on the people who embody the spirit of CHANEL outside the brand. A series of documentary films will be released featuring women active in various fields. The first installment, a Japan-themed film, focuses on five Japanese women who forge their own paths without being swayed by those around them. The film captures the daily lives of opera singer Satomi Ogawa, washi paper artist Eriko Horiki, photographer Iku Yamamoto, and others. In the film, calligrapher Rieko Kawabe says, "I'm stubborn, or rather, I don't compromise. I stick to what I believe in." Meanwhile, Mademoiselle Yulia, who has pioneered the way for female DJs and is also garnering attention as a fashion icon, excites viewers by saying, "I don't want to be discouraged from trying new things just because I'm a woman."
Each of the five women soon begins to talk about their own pasts. Their determination to make their own choices and walk their own paths truly embodies the spirit of Chanel.
