The CHANEL Fall/Winter 2024/25 Haute Couture collection, presented by the Fashion Creation Studio, pays homage to the Opéra National de Paris, also known as the Palais Garnier. Since its founding, the Opéra National de Paris has played a vital role in the history of both fashion and the House. A popular venue brimming with performance and elegance, this venue continues to attract attention and was the setting for CHANEL's runway show. Refined, luxurious and theatrical, the Fall/Winter 2024/25 Haute Couture collection will be unveiled in the gallery surrounding the Paris Opéra's auditorium. Familiar sights and perceptions will be challenged, including the gallery being specially transformed into red velvet boxes for the show, creating a completely new experience at the Opéra. The set design for the show was created by French director Christophe Honoré.

The show will blend the worlds of haute couture and opera. Feathers, tassels, cabochons, floral embroidery, rare braid, lacquered jersey, supple tweed, smooth suede, illusion tulle, taffeta, duchess satin... a variety of luxurious materials play with delicate rubbing. Puff sleeves and pleated flounces are voluminous yet light. Extensive embroidery adds a romantic touch to the Maison's codes in this collection.

A Chanel suit made of burgundy tweed with box pleats trimmed in white satin, a black corduroy tuxedo with a white blouse with an embroidered plastron, long black culottes and a fitted, short jacket with black feathers on the shoulders. The sight of these performers dancing gracefully among long coats, voluminous capes and evening gowns is a modernized representation of the traditions of the stage and a certain aesthetic of theatrical performance.

Light envelops everything in matte, glossy, and lacquered finishes. A palette of black, gold, silver, ivory, fuchsia, pale pink, and celadon green evokes a dazzling evening. Here, at the Opéra National de Paris, we not only watch art, but are also watched, experiencing a range of emotions. And it is also a place for dance. CHANEL has a deep connection with the Opéra National de Paris, having supported the Paris Opera Ballet's opening gala for its new season in 2018, the company in 2021, and the Opéra National de Paris since 2023. The history of the Maison is linked to that of the Opéra National de Paris, and therefore to avant-garde ballet, and for over 100 years, CHANEL's creations have proven inextricably linked to the ballet movement. Featuring tutus and clown costumes, homages to Gabrielle Chanel's revolutionary costumes for ballets such as Le Train Bleu (1924) and Apollo Leading the Muses (1928), and dresses for divas, princesses and brides, the Fall/Winter 2024/25 Haute Couture collection invites us into a world where clothes freely shape the space.
